FAQs.

Your questions answered.

Q: What will I learn?

A: Hopefully lots of things! We cover medication, diet, lifestyle, complications and mental wellbeing (and that’s just the beginning). We also have loads of useful content to download or save – such as recipes, diet trackers and videos. Importantly, content is delivered in a fun, interactive format and includes case studies, animations, videos, and interactive exercises. More information here

Q: How long is the school?

A: It depends how quick you learn and how fast you are! Some people go through all the modules in under a week but some people complete the school over several weeks. We have set the school up so you can start and stop at any point and pick up where you left off next time you log in. Perfect for people who are busy or like to learn in small chunks (or those who can an episode of Coronation Street and want to start it again tomorrow night!).

Q: I was never really good at school… Is this really for me?

A: Forget O-levels, GCE’s, GCSE’s and whatever they are called now. This is not a school in the traditional sense. You will not be asked to take part in tests or exams and we will not be marking you in any way. There is no such thing as an A+ and nobody will be getting an F. This is an online course that you can work through in your own time, at a pace that is right for you. You simply login and take part. And taking part will help you to understand diabetes and how to live with it and control what happens to you.

Q: I am a health professional and I really want to offer this school to my patients. How is this possible?

A: We suggest contacting your CCG first and asking the lead for Diabetes if they plan to commission this service for your patients. If not, talk to us about other funding options. Email us.

Q: How do I join the school?

A: Your GP has to refer you to us. Make an appointment and ask them to enrol you. Not all GP practices are able to refer you to us. This is because their overarching body – the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) – makes the decisions on what services they should fund for diabetes patients.

Q: When can I start?

A: Once enrolled, you can start straightaway. The school goes live in September 2018.

Q: I am a private patient. How do I sign up?

A: Email us and we will send over an information pack and if you are happy with the pricing, we will get you enrolled!

Q: Who runs the school?

A: The school is run by Social Change UK – a leading behaviour change agency in the UK. They have designed this school with experts and patients. You can find out more about the people behind the school here
